The beginning of our journey
In October and November we all knew something was up. Our humans were gone for what seemed like years at a time and they were often talking about places to travel to and people to see. It all made sense one evening just after Thanksgiving when they put us in cat carriers (the nerve!) and took us outside into the cold to the car and then into this house that moved. We only went a short distance and then stopped for the night but we got the point right away. Our blankets and beds were already there! One of our TrendyCat cat trees and a TrendyCat cat cube was there! The bed we all share (our humans' queen size TempurPedic) was there! Our cat food and water dish had moved too. We guessed we were going to be staying. In total area it was a lot smaller than our home (the only home we had ever known) but it had everything we need: food, water, litter, lots of comfy places to sit and our mom and dad.
Bright and early the next morning we were on the road in earnest. I pretty much hung out under the bed while the whole house was moving but Barney and Fred just had to see what was happening and they went all the way to the front of our new home and sat up with the humans to see the road going by. They have filled me in on what they saw the next few days. It was all different for us! We lived such a quiet life in our country home and now there were cars and people outside and so much noise! I have it on good authority that we drove through New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and finally into Florida. There are so many states and mom says we have lots more to see. At night we would stop at RV resorts and have dinner and just relax. Then the next morning it was off again. Finally after several days we arrived in Clearwater Florida at Parliament Coach Corporation.
I took the lead here because this was definitely a special place. I was the first to greet folks from Parliament that came into our house and tinkered with things and I watched them intently. Our mom and dad knew all these people and they were tuning us up for our future trips.
Getting used to the traveling lifestyle was a piece of cake for us all. We were in Clearwater for several days and then visited the east coast of Florida and our dad’s mom and sister. Our grandma and aunt came to visit one day and we all greeted them and sniffed their fingers and took pets. Soon we were off on the road again through Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and into Texas. We stayed a day outside Houston in The Woodlands near Spring Texas and the humans got some great food at a new grocery called Hubbell and Hudson near the Woodlands Mall. They went on and on about what a terrific store it was; maybe even nicer than Whole Foods. This has to be a big deal because I know the humans go to Whole Foods stores wherever they are.
Finally we arrived in Austin Texas and I understand we are staying here for several weeks in human years. I need a nap now - more later.
