Maples in Texas
I had a terrific day hanging out in my favorite spot on the bed. The folks left early even though it was chilly again this morning. They went on a scenic drive up into the Texas Hill Country along TX 39 and 187 to the Lost Maples State Park (named for what is apparently the only grove of maple trees in Texas). People travel from throughout the state to see the fall colors (no leaves on the trees as this time of year) - a strange idea for a northern cat like me. They took a hike?! around the park and had a picnic lunch overlooking the river gorge.
Just like normal, the weather warmed up so fast. It was over 75 degrees by lunch time and we were waiting for them to get home so they could open the windows and get a bunch of fresh air into the coach. I must remember to tell Barney to figure out how to open the windows. I know how to do it, of course, but I’m a delicate flower and not strong enough for the task.
On the way to Lost Maples State Park, they encountered a curious site - Easter Island and Stonehenge on the same site and in Texas. A most unusual geographic coincidence!
