A trip to the Texas state capitol

The humans went to downtown Austin (the state capitol) this morning for the first day of Texas Congress. (Although they didn't know it was the first day - you'd think they would pay some attention to the local news!) Well, everybody was there and they got to walk right into the Capitol Building and look around. You could wander through the building, gawk and take photos. No inspections or metal detectors, just a few Texas Rangers around for security. The folks guess that security isn't a big concern in a state where everyone can carry a gun into most buildings, unless there is a sign otherwise. Shades of the old Wild West!

They told us they enjoyed the day and were amused by the number of men dressed in suits and cowboy hats. They had some great real Mexican food (as opposed to the Tex-Mex that is most common here) at Polvo’s downtown before coming home.

Looking up at the dome from inside the main hall - The star of Texas is at the top surrounded by the letters TEXAS
